Description: The extraction of African palm oil at the agro-industrial level is one of the activities with the greatest environmental impact, at least with the necessity for the creation of a system that allows the treatment of this wastewater (effluent), in order to discharge them to a body of water. Extranatu extractor S.A., have a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), based on oxidation pools, which does not work properly; therefore, this study evaluated the integral form of the real plant, identifying the main problems and proposing the solutions of a methodology included in the collection of information, physicochemical characterization of wastewater, calculation of environmental indicators, identification of problems and the application of alternatives for the improvement of temperature, pH, solids, COD, BOD5, and oils and fats, along with the identification of hydraulic retention time and the effluent flow. For this reason, was proposed a reengineering that includes: the addition of bacteria in the anaerobic pool, the recirculation of water between the pool to raise the pH, the implementation of the equipment for the oxygenation of the final residual water, the evacuation of sludge from the system, the oil control of the oil in the process and the removal of oils and fats in Florentine, so that it allows an adequate operation of the WWTP when evaluating the parameters with the environmental regulation.
