| Abstract: | Telemedicine is an increasingly important tool, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic. The main objective of this study was to identify the various uses of telemedicine in pediatric coloproctological patients. A systematic review was conducted using the PRISMA method, reviewing studies published between 2013 and 2023 in two databases, PUBMED and LILAC, that met the inclusion criteria. The type of technological tool used, its utility, satisfaction, and additional benefits were analyzed, as well asthe risk of bias analysis. The resultsindicate that telemedicine not only improves the accessibility and efficiency of health care in remote areas but also increases the satisfaction of caregivers and patients due to fewer travel needs and reduced waiting times, proving useful for the care, follow-up, and education of patients and their caregivers. Furthermore, an improvement in quality of life and a decrease in hospital readmission rates were observed, underscoring the potential of telemedicine to optimize long-term follow-up in this vulnerable population |
| Description: | La telemedicina constituye una herramienta de gran importancia que cada día está siendo más utilizada, sobre todo después de la pandemia por COVID19. El objetivo principal de este estudio fue identificar los diferentes usos de la telemedicina en pacientes coloproctológicos pediátricos. Para ello se realizó una revisión sistemática aplicando el método PRISMA, mediante la revisión de 2 bases de datos, PUBMED y LILAC, de estudios publicados entre 2013 y 2023 que cumplieran con los criterios de inclusión. Se analizaron el tipo de herramienta tecnológica empleada, su utilidad, satisfacción y beneficios adicionales, así como el análisis de riesgo de sesgos. Los resultados indican que la telemedicina no solo mejora la accesibilidad y eficiencia del cuidado de la salud en zonas remotas, sino que también aumenta la satisfacción de los cuidadores y pacientes debido a la menor necesidad de desplazamientos y la reducción en los tiempos de espera, siendo útil para la atención, seguimiento y educación de pacientes y sus cuidadores. Además, se observó una mejoría en la calidad de vida y una disminución en las tasas de reingreso hospitalario, subrayando el potencial de la telemedicina para optimizar el seguimiento a largo plazo en esta población vulnerable. Es por tanto que la telemedicina parece contribuir positivamente en la atención y seguimiento de los pacientes, siendo una solución viable y eficiente para la gestión de la salud en la coloproctología pediátrica. Therefore, telemedicine appears to contribute positively to the care and follow-up of patients, offering a viable and efficient solution for health management in pediatric coloproctology. |
