| Abstract: | El Panecillo es un cerro de El Panecillo, antiguamente conocido por los habitantes como Yavirac es un cerro al Sur del Distrito Metropolitano de Quito perteneciente a la provincia de Pichincha. El Distrito a su vez se subdivide en administraciones zonales, parroquias y barrios. Por lo tanto, la zona de estudio se encuentra en la Administración Zonal Manuela Sáenz (Centro), parroquia del Centro Histórico en el barrio con su mismo nombre ̈El Panecillo ̈. Este se ha convertido en un hito por su singular y atractiva morfología y topografía; además, de estar vinculado con la conformación y consolidación de la ciudad. Por su ubicación en la urbe, se ha convertido en el mirador natural más importante, desde el que se puede apreciar la disposición urbana hacia el extremo Norte y Sur. A pesar de su gran riqueza histórica en el sector se ha determinado, según los censos realizados en el año 1990 que el panecillo contaba con una población de 5658 habitantes y para el censo realizado en el año 2010 este número se redujo a 2824 lo que muestra que existe una migración de la población hacia ambientes más favorables, esto debido a varios factores como la falta de actividad económica en el sector, la deficiente calidad espacial en zonas públicas, falta equipamientos urbanos entre otras. En este mismo año al otro lado del mundo se otorga el premio Pritzker de arquitectura del 2010 al estudio SANAA conformado por Ryue Nishizawa y Kazuyo Sejima que han sido considerados por críticos, expertos y la comunidad arquitectónica en general como uno de los ejemplos más representativos del espacio o arquitectura contemporánea, tomando a kasuyo Sejima como referente arquitectónico y espacial para el desarrollo del siguiente trabajo de titulación. Con estos antecedentes planteados el sitio es un lugar idóneo para el planteamiento de proyectos de vivienda. En este caso, se trata de un proyecto de vivienda colectiva que fue planteado en el máster plan realizado para el barrio “El Panecillo”. |
| Description: | El Panecillo is a hill in El Panecillo, formerly known by the locals as Yavirac. It is a hill located to the south of the Metropolitan District of Quito, belonging to the province of Pichincha. The district is further divided into zoning administrations, parishes, and neighborhoods. Therefore, the study area is located in the Manuela Sáenz Zonal Administration (Center), in the parish of the Historic Center, in the neighborhood of the same name, "El Panecillo." It has become a landmark due to its unique and attractive morphology and topography, as well as its connection to the formation and consolidation of the city. Due to its location within the urban area, it has become the most important natural viewpoint, from which one can appreciate the urban layout towards the northern and southern extremes. Despite its rich historical significance, census data from 1990 indicated that El Panecillo had a population of 5,658 inhabitants. However, by the 2010 census, this number had decreased to 2,824, demonstrating a migration of the population to more favorable environments. This is due to various factors such as the lack of economic activity in the area, poor spatial quality in public areas, and a lack of urban facilities, among others. In the same year, on the other side of the world, the SANAA architecture studio, formed by Ryue Nishizawa and Kazuyo Sejima, was awarded the 2010 Pritzker Architecture Prize. They have been considered by critics, experts, and the architectural community in general as one of the most representative examples of contemporary space or architecture, with Kazuyo Sejima serving as an architectural and spatial reference for the development of the following graduation project. With these established background details, the site is an ideal location for housing projects. In this case, it is a collective housing project that was proposed in the master plan developed for the neighborhood "El Panecillo.". |
