Description: The imminent increase in antibiotic resistance of bacteria generates great concern worldwide, since this results in the appearance of new strains that limit the use of the antibiotics of choice for treatment. As Ecuador is a multidiverse country in terms of flora and fauna, the need arises to explore its ancestral medicine. With this, the reason for this research work was to analyze the methanolic extracts of Uncaria guianensis, Baccharis latifolia and Chuquiraga jussieui in bacteria of the gram negative group, as a therapeutic alternative. The extracts were tested on gram negative bacteria (S. typhi, K. pneumoniae, P. aeruginosa) that cause nosocomial diseases. The Baccharis latifolia extract showed an effect for S. typhi, with significant p values (0.0197 and 0.033) during the 12 and 24 hours of testing. While the extracts Uncaria guianensis and Chuquiraga jussieui were effective for P.aeruginosa with values of p=0.035 and K. pneumoniae. p=0.008. The disk diffusion assay presented results only for S. typhi in the total extracts Uncaria guianensis and Chuquiraga jussieui with equal and greater inhibition halos compared to the positive control, between 9 and 15mm, determining the sensitivity of the extracts against the bacteria. These results obtained in this study are encouraging since it was possible to demonstrate that there is effectiveness in the three extracts.
