Abstract: This paper results from the study of the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders and absenteeism and its possible relation to a psychosocial risk factor. Aside from the analysis, the absenteeism caused by muscular-skeletal disorders has a cost impact on the organizations, which manifests as non-productive days and requires strategies oriented to work reintegration. It is important to establish the psychosocial connection, so that the conditions in which employees work are not underestimated. Objectives To establish the connection between musculoskeletal disorders, absenteeism, and the agents of psychosocial risk from a group of operative and administrative employees in a production company that belongs to the chemical sector of the industry. To identify the effects on the musculoskeletal system and whether they are induced or aggravated by their work activities. Method Cross-sectional and descriptive correlational study. For its development, the results of the psychosocial risk evaluation questionnaire designed by the Ministry of Laboral Relations of Ecuador and made to 380 employees were taken in consideration. The diagnostics of chapter CIE10 XIII: Diseases of the musculoskeletal system and the conjunctive tissue of the evaluated population were taken, as well as the statistics of absenteeism derived from the same cause, determined in days, according to the Protocol of attention to musculoskeletal pathologies and the Protocol of absenteeism, respectively. Results In this study, workload and rhythm of work were evaluated, as were the recovery processes subsequent to these working days. With the results of these paper, in which 8 angles were evaluated, it can be evidenced that health workers present a medium psychosocial risk, which in turn suggests that in majority these risks compromise their health and safety in the medium term. The results even suggest that there could be physical affectations and occupational diseases. Conclusion Musculoskeletal injuries, when they appear, can generally have an impact on the work and lifestyles of the employees. When absenteeism is added, there is an increment in production and health costs (either personal or corporative).
