Análisis de las creencias de los padres y madres sobre la sexualidad de sus hijos e hijas adolescentes de la provincia de Tungurahua cantón Ambato

Abstract

Introduction: In the parent-teenage bond, sexuality is important. Parents should work on this area, but this depends on what they understand by sexuality. In this research we have proposed to know parents' beliefs about sexuality, to examine if there is a deficiency of knowledge and communication about sexuality and if the beliefs reported by parents interfere in sexual communication and education. Material and methods: Qualitative research. Instruments used were online interview and the gathering of information from the semi-structured questionnaire with open-ended questions. We reviewed several researches conducted to different parents about the beliefs of teenage sexuality. Results: The study found some beliefs about teenage sexuality, there are religious influences, sexuality is directed only to procreation and avoiding unwanted results, and the feeling of shame when talking about this topic is evident Conclusion: Sexuality includes a diversity of topics and ways of expression such as pleasure, eroticism, gender identity, sexual orientation, and not exclusively sexual intercourse. This research shows the mistrust in talking about the topic of sexuality affecting communication and the perspective on this topic with teenagers.
