Abstract: | Prison officers, due to the general conditions and the hostile and violent work environment for inmates, are exposed to high levels of work stress that is an important cause of Burnout Syndrome. Objectives: To determine the prevalence of Burnout Syndrome in the prison security agents of the Pichincha No 1 Center for Provisional Deprivation of Male Liberty in the period 2020 - 2021.Method: It is a descriptive and cross-sectional study in which 60 prison security agents from the Pichincha No. 1 Center for Provisional Deprivation of Male Liberty of the city of Quito, Ecuador participated. The instrument used is the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), a univariate analysis was carried out to describe the sociodemographic and labor variables of the study population, and according to established criteria the incidence of the Syndrome was determined. To relate these variables to Burnout, Pearson's Chi square test was used. The statistical program SPSS and Microsoft EXCEL were used. Results: The results showed a 10% prevalence of Burnout with 18.3% of workers at risk, the Personal Achievement sub-scale presented a higher percentage at its high level. Conclusion: This research helps to determine Burnout Syndrome in prison agents and its relationships with sociodemographic and labor factors, in Ecuador no studies were found in this context. |
Description: | Los agentes penitenciarios, por las condiciones generales y el entorno de trabajo hostil y violento por los reclusos, están expuestos a altos niveles de estrés laboral que es causa importante de Síndrome de Burnout. Objetivo: Determinar la prevalencia del Síndrome de Burnout en los agentes de seguridad penitenciaria del Centro de Privación Provisional de Libertad Masculino Pichincha No 1 en el periodo 2020 – 2021. Método: Es un estudio descriptivo y transversal en el cual participaron 60 agentes de seguridad penitenciaria del Centro de Privación Provisional de Libertad Masculino Pichincha No. 1 de la ciudad de Quito, Ecuador. El instrumento utilizado es el Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), se llevó a cabo un análisis univariado para la descripción de las variables sociodemográficas y laborales de la población del estudio, y según criterios establecidos se determinó la incidencia del Síndrome. Para relacionar estas variables con el Burnout se utilizó la prueba Chi cuadro de Pearson. Se empleó el programa estadístico SPSS y Microsoft EXCEL. Resultados: Los resultados mostraron una prevalencia del 10 % de Burnout con un 18,3 % de trabajadores en riesgo, la sub escala de Realización Personal presento un mayor porcentaje en su nivel alto. Conclusión: Esta investigación ayuda a determinar Síndrome de Burnout en los agentes penitenciarios y sus relaciones con factores sociodemográficos y laborales, en Ecuador no se encontró estudios en este contexto. |
