Abstract

The life of cities can be summarized or described through their markets, each of them talks about how the inhabitants of a city make their daily lives, being a mixture of customs, which tell a culture, a history, of the neighborhood in which he is immersed, adapting to the changes around him. Historically in Quito, management and planning strategies have not been sensitive to the new reality of the Markets, causing some to decline economically and physically, their facilities to be out of date or simply their regular buyers to stop going; However, more and more cities are discovering that this type of equipment is perfectly upgradeable to o er a current, healthy and sustainable consumption model. That is why the project is oriented to carry out an analysis of the context - environment in which the architectural object of study that is the Mercado La Carolina is immersed, understanding its physical environment in which it operates, its awareness of the spatial context, that is, describing its current context - the user's environment at the current moment and in turn updating it so that it can respond to a future context - in which the architectural object, after undergoing modi cations, checks if it responds with the spatial growth of its immediate environment and if It responds to the needs of today's world, through a context indicator evaluation system. Generating a proposal that is understood as an instrument of urban strategy, where the component of public space and landscape constitute the elements that contribute to its social transformation, integrating it and articulating it with the needs of its immediate environment.
