Description: This article allowed us to know the current situation of quality of work life of teachers of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the Central University of Ecuador. Materials and methods: Cross-sectional descriptive research where the CVT-GOHISALO questionnaire and a sociodemographic survey were applied to a sample of 225 teachers without any exclusion. Results: the majority of the population qualified to all dimensions with a low level of satisfaction, however, the dimensions with the lowest satisfaction percentages were: leisure time management (68.9%), job satisfaction (67, 6%), personal development achieved at work (60.9%). The type of employment relationship of teachers was correlated with the dimensions of quality of work life and it was found that the population with the highest percentages of dissatisfaction in the 7 dimensions are teachers who have a definitive hiring. Conclusions: The job dissatisfaction of the population is focused on a demotivation of teachers due to lack of recognition that at the same time very few development opportunities are perceived that could even have a negative impact on the activities of the teacher's personal and family life. From the disturbing results found, it will be possible to initiate new research in this field without forgetting that it is vitally important to generate new institutional improvement strategies.
