Efectividad de las intervenciones desde la psicoterapia, en adultos víctimas de violencia de género

Abstract

Internationally, there is a growing need for mental health services for men and women affected by gender-based violence (GBV). International institutions and scientific literature show that women are more exposed to this phenomenon than men. The statistics are increasingly alarming, which means that this issue requires urgent attention at the social, cultural, and state levels. This type of event is a public reality at the international level and does not discriminate based on economic status. The purpose of this article is to analyze the effectiveness of psychotherapeutic interventions for adult victims of gender-based violence, based on studies conducted between 2015 and 2025. Through a systematic review, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Third Generation Therapies (TTG) are established as scientific approaches of excellence in the rehabilitation and restoration of mental health in men and women who have suffered gender-based violence with mild, severe, or profound con- sequences. The PRISMA method was used to carry out the research process and exhaustive search in scientific databases such as Scopus, PubMed, and Scielo, using DeCs/MeSH descriptors derived from the study topic, such as Psychotherapy, Adult, Violence, which allowed studies to be identified according to the research topic.The search included quantitative studies, con- trol groups of adult women with a history of gender-based violence or intimate partner violence, using experimental or quasi- experimental designs, which included the effectiveness of different therapeutic approaches. The findings allow us to identify and describe the functionality of different psychotherapeutic approaches, providing relevant scientific information to mental health professionals.
