| Abstract: | Se analizó la relación entre la salud mental y consumo del alcohol en población ecuatoriana. El estudio es de enfoque cuantitativo, correlacional y de corte transversal con una muestra de 1626 participantes (689 hombres y 937 mujeres). Se utilizaron el Cuestionario de Salud Mental (GHQ- 28) y el Cuestionario de Identificación de los Trastornos debidos al Consumo de Alcohol (AUDIT) para la medición. Se llevaron a cabo análisis descriptivos y correlacionales con el software estadístico SPSS. Los resultados mostraron una correlación positiva y directa entre la salud mental y el consumo de alcohol. Se observa que los hombres consumen más alcohol que las mujeres, mientras que las mujeres que presentan mayores síntomas de salud mental. Se concluye que se requieren intervenciones diferenciadas por género en prevención y psicoterapia en salud mental y consumo de sustancias. |
| Description: | The relationship between mental health and alcohol consumption in the Ecuadorian population was analyzed. The study follows a quantitative, correlational, and cross-sectional approach with a sample of 1,626 participants (689 men and 937 women). The General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28) and the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) were used for measurement. Descriptive and correlational analyses were conducted using the SPSS statistical software. The results showed a positive and direct correlation between mental health and alcohol consumption. It was observed that men consume more alcohol than women, while women exhibit more mental health symptoms. The study concludes that gender-differentiated interventions in prevention and psychotherapy are necessary for mental health and substance use. |
