The research is based on a quantitative field study where tests were administered: sociodemographic questionnaire, AUDIT Test (Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test), and General Health Questionnaire (GHQ), adopting a nonexperimental cross-sectional design. The study involved 1,293 Ecuadorian individuals aged between 18 and 63, with an average age of 22.35 years and a standard deviation of 4.76. The sample consisted of 42.3% men and 57.7% women. The results indicate that men, with an average of 9.91, consume more alcohol on average than women, whose average is 6.44. There is a non-harmful alcohol consumption rate of 2.8%, and depression scores tend to be slightly lower in comparison (M = 11.66, SD = 5.13). With these elements, it is concluded that alcohol consumption is a significant predictor within the studied population.
