Abstract: Los pacientes terminales de cáncer, requieren de atención y ayuda constante y continua. En este contexto complejo, los familiares se convierten en sus cuidadores principales, lo cual en mu chas ocasiones, representa un enorme desafío que puede desembocar en sufrimiento, estrés y angustia. Por tanto, es necesario ofrecer a los familiares cuidadores un sistema de apoyo acorde a sus necesidades tanto psicosociales como emocionales. El estudio tiene como objetivo describir los posibles factores que intervienen en la percepción del sentido del sufrimiento, de modo de dar respuesta a esa situación. La Investigación es de carácter cualitativo, se aplicó la técnica de la entrevista a profundidad y s e analizaron los resultados con la técnica de análisis de contenidos en nueve cuidadores familiares de pacientes en fase terminal del Hospital de SOLCA núcleo de Tungurahua. Los resultados permitieron identificar como factores protectores y de sentido, el sentimiento de responsabilidad, de utilidad y de afecto; así como también se pudo identificar la presencia de la impotencia y tristeza, seguida por la preocupación, ira, miedo y ansiedad como también afecciones físicas como el dolor muscular, dolor de cabe za
Description: The terminal cancer patients require constant and continuous attention and help. In this complex context, the family members become their main caregivers, which in many cases represents an enormous challenge that can lead to suffering, stress and anguish. Therefore, it is necessary to offer family caregivers a support system according to their psychosocial and emotional needs. The study aims to describe the possible factors involved in the perception of the sense of suffering , in order to respond to that situation. The research is of a qualitative nature, the indepth interview technique was applied and the results were analyzed with the content analysis technique in nine caregiversrelatives of terminally ill patients of the Hospital of SOLCA Tungurahua nucleus. The results allowed to identify as protective and meaningful factors, the feeling of responsibility, utility and affection; as well as the presence of impotence and sadness could also be identified, followed by worry, anger, fear and anxiety as well as physical conditions such as muscle pain, headache, tiredness and insomnia. The study made it possible to clarify some significant notions in the perception of sense.
