Valoración ambiental de los efectos de la eutrofización en la microcuenca de Yahuarcocha a través del método de costos evitados

Abstract

On the outskirts of the urban area of the city of Ibarra there is a tourist attraction recognized for its scenic beauty and historical content that is the Yahuarcocha micro-basin, recognized for providing tourism and local economy for the Ibarra canton since it has been known for several decades as a place of distraction and a walk to said lagoon. At present this natural resource is going through a case of very significant eutrophication requiring the necessary attention. According to Torres, 2020 affirms that the Provincial Government of Imbabura sent a report made at the end of 2020 to the Municipality where the very serious state of contamination that the lagoon passes through is mentioned and the recommendation to take action on the matter as soon as possible. On the other hand, we can find in this area a very strong economic activity due to the fact that there are various economic activities that generate sources of work (GAD Ibarra, 2020). That is where the problem of this place lies since the development of economic activities is carried out based on the essential beauty of the lagoon which has an obvious environmental damage generating negative impacts on the resources of the area. This research will demonstrate the economic and environmental relationship between pollution and human activities carried out in the attraction through a case study of environmental economics called avoided costs.
