Percepción de riesgo de efectos tóxicos del mercurio en trabajadores de una mina de extracción de oro en la provincia de Zamora

Abstract

Compounds with heavy metals such as mercury, are harmful to human health and also pollute the environment, there is no safe level of exposure, in addition to that within living organisms, it is not part of any physiological process. Miners usually underestimate the risk involved in handling mercury, in addition to not knowing the acute and chronic effects resulting from their exposure, so they also do not understand the constant, so preventive measures cannot be established to avoid them. Objectives: To identify the perception of risk presented by the miners of the province of Zamora, in relation to contact with mercury in their work activities.Method: The study will be descriptive-inferential, the dimensional evaluation of the risk perceived by the worker (EDRP-T) will be used, a form that is reported within the NTP 578, the data will be processed by the Statistical Software SPSS version 24 version 24 system Results: The population within the study was 80 miners from a gold mine in Zamora, with an average age of 34 years, years of schooling of 10 years on average and 10 years of work in this sector.Relating to similar studies, it would be expected that the risk perception results are with a higher percentage in low risk. Implications: This work will provide knowledge to the mining company of Ecuador, such as strengths, it is one of the first studies carried out in this environment on its toxicity and as a weakness we can mention the size of the sample taken into account
