Exposición a insecticidas y efectos en la salud de los trabajadores del área de control vectorial del distrito de salud de la provincia de Orellana en el período 2021- 2022

Abstract

Objective: To measure the association between exposure to the use of chemical insecticides used for Vector Control and the adverse effects on the health of workers. Method: The research design will be non-experimental qualitative analytical, which will be carried out in the Health District of the Province of Orellana. The study population is made up of 12 Auxiliaries of the Old SNEM of labor code residing in the city of Coca, who intervene in vector control at the provincial level in the part of the Amazon. For the information, it will be collected through a structured interview directed towards the objective of this project that, emphasizing three sections that are specific in the research proposal, will have to be carried out in person to know the risks and effects on health from the workers. Results: The implementation of this proposal seeks to analyze the association that could exist between exposure to the use of insecticides mostly used in fumigation activities for vector control and the undesirable health effects that these chemicals could have caused to workers. Implications: The proposal will serve as support and scientific evidence that exposure to insecticides causes health effects and will be useful at the level of Zonal Coordination 2 and all the Districts that manage fumigation areas classified as high-risk jobs. The small population group will not allow the implementation of other types of study techniques, in addition to this, the personnel who work with vector control in the institution are rooted in different erroneous beliefs of non-cooperation for fear of being sanctioned, which would make it a bit difficult to collect information For this, it would be necessary to channel the provisions from the institutional direction. The collaboration of the district management at present on the safety and health of the work, will allow that, by means of reports of the collected and found in this study, consider the increase of the budget for PPE acquisition, training and trainings, in addition to the agreements with laboratories. for the analysis and periodic control of special biomarkers in workers.
