Intoxicaciones en el personal de limpieza por el aumento en el uso de desinfectantes en un hospital de cuenca por COVID 19

Abstract

During the COVID 19 pandemic, there has been an increase in the use of chemical substances aimed at disinfection and cleaning processes within health homes, which is why part of the personnel who carry out these actions have been affected, observing increase in intoxications in the same. Defining as a general objective, measure the increase in poisonings in cleaning personnel due to exposure to disinfectants in a Cuenca hospital for the specific period 2020: refer to the sociodemographic characteristics and employment and working conditions according to the type of poisoning. Describe the poisonings according to the type of agent for their use, and measure the increase in poisonings in 2020 in relation to the previous year. Exploratory, descriptive, observational, cross-sectional study, non-experimental design; which will be based on records of workers in the cleaning and maintenance sector of the hospital. Expected results, will constitute a guideline for subsequent epidemiological and toxicological investigations, with information to develop preventive measures with high social impact in the hospital environment; establishing information and education processes on the proper use of PPE and monitoring of personnel working in cleaning and maintenance areas, taking as a premise risk prevention manuals. Implications correspond to the level of incidence of poisonings, by these substances, and their influence in the workplace, the existence of predominant pathologies, and exposure to industrial toxins, seeking to establish corrective measures to reduce occupational risk. There is ignorance about the cause of poisoning by exposure to the poison. There are few investigations in this area that have been carried out in the country; Access was obtained to information on the provision of supplies, work areas, and health records for each worker.
