Relación de alteraciones hematológicas y exposición laboral a citostáticos en los servicios de Hematología y Oncología del Hospital de Especialidades Carlos Andrade Marín

Abstract

Objectives: To establish the relationship between occupational exposure to cytostatics and hematological alterations in workers of the hematology and oncology service of the Carlos Andrade Marín Hospital. Identify if there is a relationship between the exposure time and the plasma concentration of cytostatics with hematological alterations. Benefit the professionals of this service, since it will be possible to identify if the exposure to cytostatics has caused some type of hematological alteration and, to draw up strategies for the prevention and management of these disorders. Method: The statistical program SPSS v25.0 will be used. Descriptive and inferential statistics will be determined. The association between the type of occupational exposure to cytostatics and hematological disorders will be established using the Chi square test (X2) and the risk estimate (RR; 95% CI); considering statistical significance when the value of p <0.05. Results: it is expected to obtain data with alterations in the blood formula; with a directly proportional relationship in those cases that have had more preparations made of cytostatics, amount of administration of cytostatics and more times of withdrawal from the route; on the contrary, it is expected to obtain hemogram results that are as close to normal or physiological values in those workers with a lesser amount of time to handle cytostatics in the work week. Implications: This study is planned to contribute to increase bibliographic and statistical data on occupational exposure to cytostatics; in addition, the study provides important statistical data to justify the creation of protocols with preventive activities and strategies in the manipulation of cystastatics.
