Equipamiento barrial en el sector de El Labrador

Abstract

Neighborhood facilities play an important role in the development of cities, since they offer a space where people find useful activities for their free time. The city of Quito has undergone several transformations in it's morphology resulting in that the land use of various sectors is not ideal for it's environment. With the continuous development of the city geared more towards transportation, a new element of TYPE BTR called Metro de Quito (underground) has been implemented, which has been under construction since 2013 and will be ready for inauguration soon (2020). This transport equipment responds to a study of transportation in which it was determined that on an average day in the city 4.2 million trips were made, of which 70% were trips were made by public transportation. The main reason for these trips, according to the study, corresponded to travels to educational facilities. The following investigation is directed to the main Metro station -El Labrador Station- and it's surroundings in order to identify the potential equipment of the sector. This equipment is in the process of mutation, and thus be able to propose an architectural project that responds to the current needs and adapt to the changes that will be needed in upcoming years promoting the neighborhood relationship that is currently fragmented. Education and recreation equipment are the main actors in the following investigation.
