compostaje. In the Park, programs and projects are being developed to meet the different needs of both the environment and citizens. This Park is the largest forest reserve managed as an urban park existing in the country. Much of its area is covered by different species of Eucalyptus, thus constituting one of the main lungs of the city. Eucalyptus is an introduced species and due to its characteristics, has caused different problems in the natural balance of the Park. This species of tree has resins toxic to other plant and animal species, accelerates the salinization of soil, also absorbs water from other plant species and soil. The CIUDAD- Ecogestión Consortium made an agreement with the University International SEK, among others, for the completion of final year jobs. One of these works was: "Biodegradation of the leaves of the species Eucalyptus globulus in the Metropolitan Park Guangüiltagua of Quito through a composting process and its possible use in the improvement of the soil characteristics of the area ", in the that fungal leaf-degrading species of the Eucalyptus species were isolated globulus, for later use in composting. From this study, we saw the need to do a new research as end-of-career work, which identifies the isolated fungal species of the Park floor and prove the efficiency of higher doses of cocktail in the composting |
