Abstract: Introduction: The purpose of this study is to compile the findings obtained from the last twenty years, on personality traits related to sex addiction, from a cognitive behavioral approach; and this way, to provide professionals with a better understanding of this problem for future research. Materials and methods: A qualitative data methodology was used for the investigation of this article, with a collection of information from sources such as virtual bibliographic databases, magazines and reference books. Additionally, in order to explain this problem in a clearer way, the films “Shame” and “Nynphomaniac” were used, as well as testimonies from the newspaper El Confidencial and a member of the Sexaholics Anonymous community, allowed to create a phenomenology analysis associated to the patient’s behavior. For a better analysis of the information, categories such as personality traits, sex addiction, comorbidity and gender differences were established, which were analyzed in depth. Results: it was determined that the most recurring personality traits in people with hyper-sexual disorder are paranoid, narcissistic, avoidant, obsessive compulsive, and borderline; regard to gender, the greatest predisposition for this disorder is for males; Finally, through the research, it was able to identified the phenomenological significance that patients have, such as automatic thoughts and core beliefs, which have an impact and effect that alters their behavior. Conclusion: on a personal level, hyper-sexual disorder refers to a social, work and family deterioration, due to the negative consequences. It was also possible to establish the relationship between the different proposals of the authors, which, in a certain way, offers the reader a general understanding of the subject.
Description: Introducción: El propósito de este estudio es recopilar los hallazgos obtenidos de los últimos veinte años, sobre los rasgos de personalidad relacionados con la adicción al sexo, desde un enfoque cognitivo conductual; y de esta forma, dotar a los profesionales de un mayor entendimiento de esta problemática para futuras investigaciones. Materiales y métodos: se utilizó una metodología documental de tipo cualitativo y con una recolección de información de fuentes como bases de datos bibliográficas virtuales, revistas y libros. Adicionalmente, para explicar con mayor claridad este problema, se han utilizado las películas “Shame” y “Ninfómana”, al igual que testimonios del diario El Confidencial y de un miembro de la comunidad de Sexólicos Anónimos, con el fin de realizar un cuadro fenomenológico asociado al comportamiento de los pacientes. Para un mejor análisis, se establecieron categorías como rasgos de personalidad, adicción al sexo, comorbilidad y diferencias de género. Resultado: se determinó que los rasgos de personalidad más recurrentes en las personas con trastorno hipersexual son los paranoides, narcisistas, evitativo, obsesivo compulsivo y límites; respecto al género, la mayor predisposición para este trastorno lo tienen los hombres; y finalmente, se logró identificar la significación fenomenología de los pacientes, como pensamientos automáticos y creencias nucleares que alteran su comportamiento.Conclusiones: En el ámbito personal, el trastorno hipersexual se refiere a un deterioro social, laboral y familiar, debido a las consecuencias negativas. Se pudo, además, establecer la relación entre las diferentes propuestas de los autores con lo que, de cierta manera, se ofrece al lector una comprensión general del tema.
