| Abstract: | Traffic is a major obstacle to development, a serious public health problem and one of the leading causes of death and injury worldwide. Considering the reports of international organizations regarding traffic accidents and their relationship with occupational accidents In Itinere, it is necessary to estimate the human impact that it represents in Ecuador. Based on data from the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute (IESS), it was found that the highest mortality rate (2016, 2017) were 4 deaths per 1,000,000 affiliated members of the IESS, with a ratio of 2:1 male-female, prevailing the ages of 26-35 years and with a total of 6,919.4 productive years lost, meaning this an impact with unacceptable political, economic and social visibility. |
| Description: | El tránsito es un importante obstáculo para el desarrollo, un grave problema de salud pública y una de las principales causas de muerte y lesiones en el mundo. Considerando los informes de los organismos internacionales, respecto a los accidentes de tránsito y su relación con los accidentes de trabajo In Itinere, se necesita estimar el impacto humano que representa en el Ecuador. Basado en los datos del Instituto Ecuatoriano de Seguridad Social (IESS), se encontró la mayor tasa de mortalidad (2016; 2017) de 4 fallecidos por 1.000.000 afiliados, con relación de 2:1 hombre-mujer, de entre 26 y 35 años de edad, y con un total de 6.919,4 años productivos pérdidos, causando un impacto con visibilidad politica, económica y social inaceptable. |
