Diseño arquitectónico del centro de capacitación artesanal y difusión cultural el Coca, como parte de la reconfiguración espacial del borde pluvial de la ciudad

Abstract

The operational area of this project is located in Francisco de Orellana City, El Coca which is the capital city of the province Orellana, in Ecuador. This is one of the main locations of the amazon region in the country, which has a great wealth of cultural and natural richness, made up of several ethnic groups. There is disconnection between the urban structure and geography of the place, showing two different realities; the natural delimitation given by the rivers, and the artificial shaped by bridges and new constructions. This is currently the cause of a total meltdown between nature and what is built, thus creating different barriers to integrate the overall structure of the city. What this project is proposing, is to find an architectural object that would act as a connection and transition point of these two different given realities. This will also allow to recover the riverbank which is increasingly affected. For which it is proposed an urban growth boundary, planning and controlling the expansion of the city, avoiding informal settlements on the suburbs. This, by creating urban facilities, productive areas and nature application plans, shaping a clearly identified city limit. Existing marked axis roads will be taken into account, not only because this represent and important road connection, but also on how they used the land of important city locations crossing this axis, like; Ecological Park, Malecon, Macco museum and Coca central park. The architectural proposal is linked to urban studies carried out on this project. Having the modular architecture as a reference, it is proposed a “Craft training and cultural dissemination center”, which would be also working as a shelter for local breeds, a recreation zone on higher visitor density, with good accessibility and permeability whit the whole city.
