Abstract: Se investigó los riesgos biológicos de los recicladores de basura de la ciudad Esmeraldas con el propósito de describir cada uno de los agentes biológicos a los que se exponen los cuales afectan a la salud de los recicladores de basura, y de esta manera explorar sus condiciones de trabajo, con que cuentan y establecer los riesgos biológicos a los que están expuestos. Esta investigación se realizó en el botadero de basura “El Jardín” de la ciudad y provincia de Esmeraldas, con una población participante de 42 recicladores de la Asociación “JUNTOS POR UN PORVENIR”. Este estudio se realizó con un enfoque cualitativo, utilizando el método Biogaval a través del análisis, síntesis, deducción e inducción para poder así obtener toda la información, empleando técnicas de entrevista y observación a la población participante. Al aplicar dicha metodología se obtuvo como resultado que 4 de los 15 agentes biológicos identificados superan el nivel de acción biológica; para lo cual se proponen medidas preventivas y recomendaciones; para minimizar o reducir el nivel de riesgo biológico en el botadero de basura “El Jardín”
Description: The biological risks of garbage recyclers in the city of Esmeraldas were investigated. With the purpose of describing each of the biological agents to which they are exposed which affect the health of garbage recyclers, and in this way explore their working conditions, which they have and establish the biological risks to which they are exposed. This investigation was carried out in the garbage dump “El Jardín” of the city and province of Esmeraldas, with a participating population of 42 recyclers of the Association “TOGETHER FOR A FUTURE”. This study was carried out with a qualitative approach, using the Biogaval method through analysis, synthesis, deduction and induction in order to obtain all the information, using interview and observation techniques to the participating population. When applying this methodology, it was obtained that 3 of the 14 identified biological agents exceeded the level of biological action; for which preventive measures and recommendations are proposed; to minimize or reduce the level of biological risk in the garbage dump “El Jardín”.
