Plan Piloto de Evaluación Ambiental en el Sector Industrial de la Curtición para la provincia de Tungurahua

Abstract

En el presente estudio se analizó la presencia y desarrollo de una actividad industrial representativa en la provincia de Tungurahua, como es el procesamiento de pieles de ganado vacuno principalmente (Industria Curtidora). Se identificó y caracterizó a los contaminantes generados durante la producción de cuero, y sus fuentes receptoras. Se analizó las características ambientales, ecológicas y socio – económicas de la provincia de Tungurahua. Se desarrollaron entrevistas y fichas técnicas, para el análisis del sector curtidor; se trabajó en un catastro definitivo de las curtiembres en el país, para determinar la presencia de estas industrias en la provincia de Tungurahua y delimitar áreas de mayor densidad de curtiembres; se determinó tres áreas de influencia en la provincia de Tungurahua ubicadas en el cantón Ambato (Izamba, La Península y Huachi Loreto); se realizó encuestas a pobladores de las tres áreas de influencia, para estimar la incidencia en los seres humanos que habitan en cercanías a estas industrias; finalmente, se desarrolló mapas de superposición, donde se ubicó las industrias curtidoras de las tres áreas de influencia en diversos mapas de la provincia. Se realizó una evaluación de los impactos ambientales significativos y su manifestación en el ambiente, además se propuso alternativas para la prevención, control y mitigación de los impactos ambientales generados. La información que posee este trabajo es un aporte significativo para la provincia de Tungurahua y específicamente para las industrias curtidoras, sin embargo es necesario aportar con seguimiento e investigaciones mas especificas, que lo respalden en el futuro.

In the present study, the presence and development of a representative industrial activity in the province of Tungurahua was analyzed, such as the processing of cattle hides mainly (Curtidora Industry). The pollutants generated during leather production and their receiving sources were identified and characterized. The environmental, ecological and socio - economic characteristics of the province of Tungurahua were analyzed. Interviews and technical sheets were developed for the analysis of the tanning sector; We worked in a definitive cadastre of the tanneries in the country, to determine the presence of these industries in the province of Tungurahua and delimit areas of greater density of tanneries; Three areas of influence were determined in the province of Tungurahua located in the canton of Ambato (Izamba, La Península and Huachi Loreto); surveys were carried out to the inhabitants of the three areas of influence, in order to estimate the incidence in the human beings that live near these industries; Finally, superposition maps were developed, where the tanning industries of the three areas of influence were located on various maps of the province. An evaluation was made of the significant environmental impacts and their manifestation in the environment, and alternatives were proposed for the prevention, control and mitigation of the environmental impacts generated. The information that this work has is a significant contribution for the province of Tungurahua and specifically for the tanning industries, however it is necessary to provide follow-up and more specific research, which will support it in the future.
