Description: | This project was developed in 3 medical centers specialized in the area of radiology, located in the city of Quito-Ecuador. The purpose of the research is to check how useful BARITE material can become in every aspect compared to LEAD. The aspects to be investigated are economical and protective, of the Occupationally Exposed personnel, hoping to solve the research problem. It is known that barite has the same properties as lead, but it is not known what the cost, resistance and protection is in terms of use in radiology (X-rays and Tomscans). With measurements made in 3 samples, and specialized equipment both to measure doses received by medical personnel, radiation dispersed in the environment in both protected and shielded rooms, and with the calculations of materials to be used in the construction of an area of radiology with barite, it is possible to check the effectiveness of the aforementioned material, for radiation protection shielding, and in economic value. |
