Abstract: El objetivo de la presente investigación es analizar posturas forzadas y factores psicosociales asociados a trastornos músculo esquelético, en odontólogos generales de una clínica dental privada de la ciudad de Quito. Material y método: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal multivariado, el muestreo fue no probabilístico y la muestra estuvo constituida por 38 odontológos de una clinica privada de la ciudad de Quito . Se utilizaron los instrumentos Historias Clinicas, Cuestionario Estandarizado Nórdico, cuestionario Maslach y el método REBA. Resultados. Al valorar la distribución de las molestias y su duracion en tiempo que son manifestadas por los odontológos, existe mayor prevalencia en mujeres menores de 35 años de edad , durante la practica odontológica se observó un predomino: 83% a nivel en cuello, 75% hombros, 67% región dorsal o lumbar, 67% codo y antebrazo y mayor frecuencia en mano o muñeca derecha con 25%. El estrés laboral se encuentra asociado dos veces más en cuanto a la duración y sintomatología a nivel de región lumbar independientemente de la edad y el sexo. Al evaluar REBA se obtuvo una puntuación de 4-7 con un nivel de riesgo de medio y nivel de acción necesario que afecta a odontológos mayores de 35 años . Conclusiones. Los trastornos músculo-esqueléticos reportadas en este estudio es principalmente a nivel de cuello y región dorsolumbar afectando en su mayoria a las mujeres, el cuál amerita una acción necesaria para evitar futuras repercusiones en la salud laboral.
Description: The objective of this research is to analyze forced postures and psychosocial factors associated with skeletal muscle disorders, in general dentists of a private dental clinic in the city of Quito. Material and method. A descriptive multivariate cross-sectional study was performed, the sampling was not probabilistic and the sample consisted of 38 dentists from a private clinic in the city of Quito. The Clinical Histories instruments, Nordic Standardized Questionnaire, Maslach questionnaire and the REBA method were used. Results When assessing the distribution of discomfort and its duration in time that are manifested by dentists, there is a higher prevalence in women under 35 years of age, during the dental practice a predominant was observed: 83% at neck level, 75% shoulders, 67% dorsal or lumbar region, 67% elbow and forearm and greater frequency in hand or right wrist with 25%. Work-related stress is associated twice more in terms of duration and symptoms at the lumbar region regardless of age and sex. When evaluating REBA a score of 4-7 was obtained with a level of risk of medium and level of action necessary that affects dentists over 35 years. Conclusions The musculoskeletal disorders reported in this study are mainly at the neck and dorso lumbar region, mostly affecting women, which merits the necessary action to avoid future repercussions on occupational health.
