Abstract: En Ecuador se estima que más del 40% de la población tiene un empleo informal. Recientes estudios llevados a cabo en diversos países de América Latina, han encontrado asociación entre el empleo informal y un pobre estado de salud mental. Sin embargo, en Ecuador no existen estudios que analicen dicha relación. El objetivo del presente estudio fue analizar la asociación entre el empleo informal y la depresión, y examinar si los patrones de asociación difieren según el género.
Description: In Ecuador it is estimated that more than 40% of the population has an informal job. Recent studies carried out in various Latin American countries have found an association between informal employment and a poor state of mental health. However, in Ecuador there are no studies that analyze this relationship. The objective of this study was to analyze the association between informal employment and depression, and examine whether patterns of association differ according to gender.
