Description: In the present investigation the objective was to correlate the index of state-trait anxiety of two Teenage sample populations. The objective is to perform a comparative study on the state of anxiety amongst institutionalized teenagers from Conocoto’s Juvenile detention center compared to non-institutionalized Teens that attend “Los Ilinizas” a private school in Conocoto. Quantitative Research was used when applying. State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) that permits the evaluation of two distinct dimensions of anxiety of 30 teenagers from 15 - 18 years old (15 institutionalized -15 non-institutionalized). The results obtained show the levels of trait anxiety amongst this age group were no statistically significant but research shows a higher level of anxiety amongst non- institutionalized teens, probably because of multiple environmental factors. The recommendation would be to enlarge the sample population in order to see if multifactorial influences affect levels of anxiety in this age group.
