| Abstract: | Considerando inconsistencias en la literatura referente al uso de alcohol en mujeres víctimas de violencia, el objetivo de esta investigación fue identificar el uso o abuso de alcohol en mujeres víctimas de violencia. Materiales y métodos: Mujeres (N=28) que reciben atención en una fundación para víctimas de violencia completaron una encuesta sobre su consumo de alcohol y adicionalmente completaron el Inventario de Evaluación de Personalidad (PAI). Se utilizó un modelo cuantitativo descriptivo para el análisis de datos. Resultados: Contrario al resultado reportado en previas investigaciones, mujeres mestizas, víctimas de violencia, indicaron un uso no problemático de alcohol. Sin embargo, se identificó una leve tendencia a desarrollar dependencia a esta bebida. Conclusión: El factor étnico/cultural pudo haber influenciado los resultados obtenidos en este estudio. Estos resultados sugieren que el uso de alcohol por parte de mujeres víctimas de violencia es específico a grupos étnicos culturales. Esto implica que evaluaciones o intervenciones con esta población deben ser específicas contemplando diferencias grupales culturales |
| Description: | Considering the inconsistencies in the literature regarding the use of alcohol in women victims of violence, the objective of this research was to identify the use or abuse of alcohol in women victims of violence. Materials and methods. Women (N = 28) who receive care in a foundation for victims of violence completed a survey on their alcohol consumption and additionally completed the Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI). A descriptive quantitative model was used for data analysis. Results. Contrary to the result reported in previous investigations, mestizo women, victims of violence, indicated a non-problematic use of alcohol. However, a slight tendency to develop dependence on this drink was identified. Conclusion. The ethnic / cultural factor may have influenced the results obtained in this study. These results suggest that the use of alcohol by women victims of violence is specific to cultural ethnic groups. This implies that evaluations or interventions with this population must be specific considering cultural group differences |
