Description: The following investigation aims to identify the contemporary funeral rites and manifestations related to the Andean cosmovision to value them as part of the intangible heritage of the Metropolitan District of Quito. Death assimilated as a significant event for the community, has generated rituals and diverse expressions. In the present document, the theme is developed from Chapter I. This chapter, assigned to the theoretical framework, allows the understanding of the funerary phenomenon within the Metropolitan District of Quito, through history. It begins with the customs and rituals before the death of the pre-Columbian Andean world, to give way to the arrival of the Spaniards with their introduced and imposed rituals. Thus it is possible to understand, through a comparison, the transformations and mergers that took place from that time to the present day. Chapter II, develops the field investigation. The information collected and processed is organized according to the urban and rural areas of the DMQ, detailing the funerary rituals practiced at present in each unit of study: when an individual dies and in the celebration of the Day of the Dead. With this information, it is opened to Chapter III, the same one that contains the analysis of the Intangible Funeral Heritage that is related to the Andean cosmovision and its subsistence over time. With the conclusions obtained from the study about these ritual permanences at present, support is given to the valuation, cataloging and safeguarding of the intangible heritage deposited in the funerary phenomenon
