Description: The present study forms part of the project "Quimism and protection of the invisible water of the Metropolitan District of Quito" and part of the objective of making a comparison of the chemical behavior of the aquifer sub - systems Quito Sur, North Center of Quito and Pifo - El Quinche. For the realization of this objective the interpretation of the database was made by characterizing the facies, and the analysis of groundwater chemistry with the development of ionic relationships and the elaboration of Pipper and Stiff diagrams that show the water - rock relationship presented by the MDQ, in order to contribute to the design of a baseline for the elaboration of a conceptual model of the underground water system of the aquifer sub - systems that help determine the processes, evolution and behavior of the water found in the different aquifer units. The results show that the waters of the study area are Calcium - Magnesium bicarbonated type and that an ion exchange of sodium is generated by calcium and magnesium due to the fine grain structure of silt and clay and the presence of rocks of origin volcanic that present the aquifer subsystems. It is concluded that due to the geological characteristics that the DMQ presents, the three aquifer sub - systems have a similar structure and the facies will be the same throughout the aquifer.
