Abstract: La Sociedad de la Información surge a partir del desarrollo desenfrenado de las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (TIC), que permiten nuevas formas, canales y representaciones de los datos, la información y la comunicación. Las TIC son las propulsoras de varios de los cambios en el orden social, ya que se encuentran inmersas en cada espacio de la vida del ser humano. Cada día la tecnología es más importante para el desarrollo de la sociedad moderna, y son fundamentales las investigaciones de estudios de recepción para entender los cambios que se están generando a nivel cultural. Sin duda alguna, el teléfono celular, es una herramienta que por sus costos y plataforma, es mucho más asequible a la mayor parte de la población mundial, que cualquier otra tecnología. Además ahora se ha convertido en un instrumento fundamental para el desarrollo de varias actividades de los individuos, pero sobretodo para satisfacer sus necesidades de comunicación y para organizar sus actividades diarias. Para los jóvenes el teléfono celular es además una herramienta de socialización, que facilita y mantiene sus relaciones interpersonales. A través de esta herramienta se identifican con lo nuevo, lo ventajoso y lo moderno de la época, también con su entorno y con su generación, estableciendo diferencias con las generaciones pasadas.
Description: Information Society arises starting from the wild development of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) that allow new forms, channels and representations of data, information and communication. Since the ICT interfere in each space of life of the human beings, several changes in the social order are promoted by them. Every day technology becomes more important for the development of the modern society. It is important to understand its processes so we also understand the changes that are given at cultural level. Without a doubt, cellular phone, is a tool that for its costs and platform, it is much more affordable to most of the world population that any other technology. It has also now become a fundamental instrument for the development of the individuals' several activities, but overalls to satisfy their communication necessities and to organize their daily activities. For the youths, cellular phone is also a socialization tool that facilitates and it maintains its interpersonal relationships. Through this tool they are identified with the new thing, the advantageous thing and the modern of the time. Also it allows them to established differences with the last generations. At the moment, Ecuador has 9 107 799 users of mobile telephony and it is the second country in the world with more messages per capita after Philippines. This situation owes herself mainly to the culture of the Ecuadorians that is characterized to be oral, novelesque and baroque. The present investigation was carried out with the purpose of knowing the incidence of the use of cellular phone in teachers, like and students of SEK International University. The uses that students and professors give to cellular phone inside the classrooms of the SEK International University are influenced by the cyber culture, for the Ecuadorian culture and for the organizational culture of the university. Starting from the techniques and utilized methods, one could know several of the attitudes and derivative behaviours of the use of this tool. You could also verify that the use of cellular phone inside the classroom, causes disturbance, interruption, affects to the values of the organization and it diminishes the levels of attention and concentration in the students and teachers.
