Description: In the Ecuadorian economy there is a workforce that has been seen unable to find employment within the formal sector, result of the limited capacity of the public and private sectors to absorb the growing supply of labor. This labor force has had to find an alternative that help subsist; the alternative to which she has been forced to resort has been self-occupation in activities such as: commerce, industry, services, transport and construction. Because of the aforementioned, the creation of small establishments called "microenterprises" as sources of own employment. These establishments carry out activities on a small scale, in which the division of labor is simple, whose average number of permanent workers is a maximum of ten (including the owner), and techniques are limited because such businesses do not need to own high levels of qualification and not a high investment capital in equipment and machinery to install. These micro-enterprises make up the structure of the population Ecuador under the name of "informal sector", a sector that is part of the economically active population and the group of "employed" in the country. It could be said that informality is sometimes the first stage of microenterprises, since the owners usually settle in first for perform the required procedures to establish a business. Those who fail to perform these procedures, according to the law, are the called "informal", which are divided into those who pay permits, but they do not pay taxes to the State and those that do not comply with any requirement. The urban informal sector (SIU) is usually conformed by small productive units that carry out their activities on their own account, being able to include their relatives at the same time. There has been a remarkable growth of self-employed workers and unpaid family members because they want to have a business own, that is to say, a source of their own employment, which helps them to guarantee their income which allows them to at least subsist, despite the fact that these businesses have no stability in jobs, and contracts that are made to perform the transactions are the majority verbal with what provides a great insecurity for informal businesses. The SIU continues to expand because he tries to search with his own means solutions to the socio-economic problems that arise in the country. There are several important factors, such as: political crises, demographic changes, variations in the political system, legislation labor force and technological innovations that have had a great impact on part in the way in which this population has been structured. Despite the fact that the activities carried out by the SIU in the majority of the cases do not grant large salaries, this sector follows them realizing because its primary objective is subsistence. But informal activities can differ from each other in the sense of the accumulation or increase of the savings capacity that each one possesses, the technology they use and their ability to replace it with innovations or the possibility of introducing more levels complexes in the work organization.
