Description: The stock market of Ecuador has experienced a growth and development in comparison to the stock market of the 80's. The current investor, although in a limited amount in Ecuador, tries to be more informed and demanding as regards the information received about the securities traded on the stock exchange. Securities and in the over-the-counter market. There are national and foreign institutions, which considering variables as profitability and risk, are forced to adopt strategies in terms of entering and leaving the market, and for this they require that the market information be more complete. The subject exposed in this thesis seeks that the Ecuadorian businessman find in the emission of shares one of the main alternatives to be analyzed at the moment in which your company is faced with the need to restructure its assets either by optimizing resources or for growth through the implementation of new projects. The main objective is to study the stock price series of the Stock Exchange of Quito between 1993 and 1999 in order to verify if the series of actions and indexes present a behavior that could give extraordinary profits to investors through the undervaluation of the primary actions of a company. An initial stock offer (IPO) is understood as the first effort made by a private firm to raise capital through the stock market.
