El patrimonio inmaterial, parámetros para una declaratoria de patrimonio cultural inmaterial de la nación estudio de caso: La yumbada de la Magdalena

Abstract

El Ecuador posee diversas muestras del Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial, expresadas en leyendas, tradiciones, elaboración de artesanías, gastronomía, música, fiestas, entre otras. En este trabajo nos hemos concentrado en las fiestas, que se desarrollan en casi todos los barrios y pueblos del país, y en especial, en la fiesta de La Yumbada de La Magdalena, que es una celebración, que, a pesar del tiempo transcurrido, aún se mantiene vigente entre los pobladores de un tradicional barrio del sur de la ciudad de Quito.

La Yumbada de La Magdalena, es un “Pase del Niño”, en el que intervienen danzantes como yumbos, archidonas, negros, pastores y otras coreografías, acompañadas por músicos que entonan instrumentos ancestrales, bandas de pueblo y carros alegóricos con discomoviles. Otros personajes importantes son los priostes, síndicos y feligreses que mantienen viva esta tradicional celebración, muestra del sincretismo, producto del legado de quitu-caras, yumbos y españoles.

Esta fiesta, poco conocida en la ciudad de Quito, posee elementos simbólicos, espirituales y materiales, que se han transmitido desde tiempo inmemoriable a varias generaciones que habitan el sector de La Magdalena. Con el paso del tiempo, algunas costumbres se van quedando en el olvido, y otras corren grave peligro de sufrir alteraciones por el desconocimiento de las autoridades municipales. Por ello, se han investigado las acciones de salvaguarda y difusión del Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial, que deben ser aplicadas a esta celebración para precautelar su vigencia.

Ecuador has diverse samples of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, expressed in legends, traditions, elaboration of handicrafts, gastronomy, music, parties, among others. In this work we have concentrated on the festivities, which take place in almost all the neighborhoods and towns of the country, and especially, in the party of La Yumbada de La Magdalena, which is a celebration, which, despite the time elapsed, It still remains in force among the inhabitants of a traditional neighborhood in the south of the city of Quito.

La Yumbada de La Magdalena, is a "Child's Pass", in which dancers like yumbos, archidonas, blacks, pastors and other choreographies, accompanied by musicians who sing ancestral instruments, town bands and floats with discomobiles, intervene. Other important personages are the priostes, síndicos and parishioners that keep alive this traditional celebration, sample of the syncretism, product of the legacy of quitu-faces, yumbos and Spaniards.

This party, little known in the city of Quito, has symbolic, spiritual and material elements, which have been transmitted from time immemorial to several generations that inhabit the sector of La Magdalena. Over time, some customs are being forgotten, and others are in serious danger of suffering alterations due to the ignorance of the municipal authorities. Therefore, the safeguard and dissemination actions of the Intangible Cultural Heritage have been investigated, which should be applied to this celebration to safeguard its validity.
