The generation of urban solid waste in Ecuador has increased in recent decades. In the case of the Metropolitan District of Quito, the integral waste management system has a unique management alternative known as final disposal in landfills. The city of Quito is the second most populated city in the country and knowing that the generation of Urban solid waste tends to grow over time, it is necessary to analyze possible treatment alternatives. The objective of this project was to quantify the Upper and Lower Calorific Power of two types of urban solid waste: textile and mixed composition; the same obtained from the Southern and Northern Transfer Stations of the MDQ and were analyzed from an experimental method that used the calorimetric bomb and the titration as the main analytical technique as the main instrument. As a result of the forty-eight samples analyzed in the laboratory it was determined that the waste with the highest PCS is the textile, with an average value of 5351 kcal / kg and an average humidity of 6.63%, low compared to the waste of type mixed, indicating that the moisture - caloric power ratio is inversely proportional. The data obtained together with the analyzes that have been carried out, allow to evaluate the thermal treatment of the waste as an alternative of energy use within an integral management system.
