Bacteria resistant to multiple antibiotics are increasingly frequent and threaten the well-being of today's societies. Acinetobacter baumannii is one of them and its danger lies in its presence in hospitals, mainly in the intensive care unit. The common controls through the administration of antibiotics are not very effective, which is why the use of new techniques such as the use of bacteriophages is proposed. In this study, bacteriophages were isolated from water samples from the Machángara, San Pedro and Guayllabamba rivers, which were tested in four strains of A. baumannii obtained from three hospitals in Ecuador. Bacteriophage isolation techniques, efficacy through the gout test, titration of phage lysates and infection kinetics were performed. 12 phages were isolated, of which 5 of them were chosen for the titration and kinetic tests, one per strain and one that affected all of them. A useful protocol was obtained to obtain bacteriophages for this specific case and a decrease in the growth of the bacteria was found in the presence of the phage. To obtain more complete results it is recommended to perform a genomic analysis.
