Conservación y Difusión de los Fondos Bibliográficos Antiguos de Quito

Abstract

Este trabajo es una reseña de algunos fondos bibliográficos antiguos de Quito, pertenecientes a Bibliotecas públicas y privadas que son considerados entre los más importantes del país. La manera como se ha abordado la problemática circundante a estos fondos, es a través de dos actividades primordiales que conciernen al Centro Documental actual: la Conservación y la Difusión. En una primera parte se delimita conceptualmente al fondo dentro del archivo y la biblioteca, así como también se revisan aspectos tales como: las personas que acuden y laboran en estos sitios. La segunda parte es de tipo histórico, ¿cómo se conformaron los fondos, dónde se encontraban y se encuentran actualmente, cuántas y qué obras tienen?, todos estos temas confluyen a la determinación de la importancia de los fondos, que inclusive alcanza un carácter internacional. El capítulo de la conservación trata aspectos teóricos y técnicos sobre este tema, su objetivo es configurar el diagnóstico de conservación que servirá para la elaboración de un subproyecto de conservación dentro de una biblioteca específica. Como parte esencial y en correlación con la conservación se encuentra la difusión del fondo histórico, a partir de su definición se trata de revelar los instrumentos mediante los cuales se puede llevar a cabo, su antecedente es el tratamiento bibliotecológico necesario antes de su elaboración. La parte práctica de la tesis es la elaboración de un esquema de proyecto de conservación y difusión de un fondo bibliográfico antiguo, basado en el fondo bibliográfico antiguo real, existente en la biblioteca del convento de Santo Domingo de Quito.

This work is a review of some old bibliographical collections of Quito, belonging to public and private libraries that are considered among the most important in the country. The way in which the problem surrounding these funds has been addressed is through two main activities that concern the current Documentary Center: Conservation and the Diffusion. In the first part, the background is conceptually delimited within the file and the library, as well as revise aspects such as: the people who come and they work in these places. The second part is of historical type, how the funds were made, where found and are currently, how many and what works do they have ?, all these topics converge to the determination of the importance of the funds, which even reaches a international character The conservation chapter deals with theoretical and technical aspects of this topic, its objective is to configure the conservation diagnosis that will be used to prepare a conservation subproject within a specific library. As an essential part and in correlation with conservation is the diffusion of historical background, from its definition it is about revealing the instruments through the which can be carried out, its antecedent is the necessary librarianship treatment before its preparation. The practical part of the thesis is the elaboration of a scheme of conservation project and dissemination of an ancient bibliographic collection, based on the real old bibliographical collection, existing in the library of the convent of Santo Domingo de Quito.
