Diseño de la planta de tratamiento de agua potable para el sistema de riego Cayambe-Olmedo

Abstract

La parroquia Olmedo es una de las cinco parroquias rurales del cantón Cayambe, provincia de Pichincha, obtiene el agua de las vertientes ubicadas alrededor del volcán Cayambe, principalmente de la laguna de San Marcos, en la cual se están realizando trabajos para poder abastecer de agua de riego para los cultivos de toda la comunidad. Como en ciertas épocas del año el agua es escaza, los habitantes utilizan el agua de riego para consumo, por lo que esto les ha traído graves problemas de salud por la condición y calidad del recurso, por lo tanto con la ayuda de la Universidad Internacional SEK se inició el proceso de caracterización del agua. En el estudio se determinó que el agua no es de buena calidad para el consumo humano y que se deben tomar ciertas medidas de control para solucionar el problema. Por lo tanto se obtuvo como conclusión que: es necesario una planta de potabilización de agua para mejorar la calidad del recurso, y así, sea apta para el consumo de la población. Se sugiere métodos convencionales y de bajo costo y un protocolo de limpieza y mantenimiento de la planta. Con esta medida se pretende conseguir una solución al momento de que se produzca una escasez de agua y una mejora en el uso y consumo del mismo

The Olmedo parish is one of the five rural parishes of the Cayambe canton, province of Pichincha, obtains water from the springs located around the Cayambe volcano, mainly from the San Marcos lagoon, in which work is being done to supply water of irrigation for the crops of the whole community. As at certain times of the year the water is scarce, the inhabitants use the irrigation water for consumption, so this has brought them serious health problems due to the condition and quality of the resource, therefore with the help of the International University SEK began the process of water characterization. In the study it was determined that the water is not of good quality for human consumption and that certain control measures must be taken to solve the problem. Therefore, it was concluded that: a water potabilization plant is necessary to improve the quality of the resource, and thus, be suitable for the consumption of the population. It suggests conventional and low cost methods and a protocol of cleaning and maintenance of the plant. This measure is intended to achieve a solution when there is a shortage of water and an improvement in the use and consumption of it
