The problem of how unemployment and underemployment affects the urban population arises, as well as a brief analysis of the evolution of these two macroeconomic variables and their relationship with the aspects that determine the living conditions of the population such as poverty and poverty. inequality. The methodologies for calculating poverty by income and Gini coefficient are considered as the basis for the present project. Unemployment and underemployment present a decreasing tendency in the analyzed period of time, since the model reflects the direct relationship of unemployment with poverty and inequality, providing analytical values for future research. The population most affected by unemployment is that comprised of adolescent and young women, between 10 and 19 years of age, belonging to the lowest income quintile 1 of the city of Guayaquil. With regard to underemployment, the most affected population is that comprised of poor women, adolescents, between 10 and 14 years old, belonging to the city of Machala, occupied in the branch of Commerce. In the case of employment discrimination against women, it is convenient that companies consider and value their work, considering their capacity, level of education, qualification and qualification. As it could be observed, unemployment affects youth in a greater proportion.
