Triada oscura de la personalidad e impulsividad como predictores de la salud mental

Abstract

This Article analyzes the Dark Triad of personality and Impulsivity as predictors of Mental Health in the Ecuadorian population over 18 years of age. 1,293 Ecuadorians between 20 and 40 years old participated in a non-probabilistic sampling called snowball, to demonstrate the aforementioned prediction. Three evaluation tools were used, the Dirty Dozen (DD) test, the Goldberg General Health Questionnaire (GHQ) and the Barrat Impulsivity Scale (BIS-15), using the Qualtrics platform, the SPSS statistical software showed the results of the correlated variables. The research is quantitative, nonexperimental, cross-sectional. As a result, the findings suggest a negative association between the Dark Triad and mental health, as well as between impulsivity (especially cognitive and unplanned) and mental health. No clear association was observed between motor impulsivity and mental health, possibly due to the influence of other factors. On the other hand, a positive connection was found between the Dark Triad and impulsivity. This reveals that these traits can influence impulsive behaviors that affect mental health in both the short and long term. It is so, these findings show that the Dark Triad variables of personality and Impulsivity predict Mental Health, in percentages of 6% for Machiavellianism, narcissism 6%, psychopathy 5% and impulsivity 13%. Announcing that this study highlights the importance of considering the interaction.
