The objective of this study is to determine the level of contamination of the Limoncocha lagoon for which a biomonitoring was performed using benthic macroinvertebrates. The Limoncocha lagoon is inside the biological reserve that bears the same name and is located at 0o 24 'south latitude and at 78 ° 38' west longitude. With an average altitude of 230 msnm is a tropical humid forest of the northeast of the Ecuador A monthly sampling was carried out, completing a total of 8 since December 1997 until June 1998 (period that includes dry and rainy season), and the main Taxonomic groups found were: Odonata, Díptera and Ephemeróptera. For the determination of the biodiversity of the lagoon, 2 methods were used: Shannon & Weaver and Simpson. In order to know the level of eutrophication, the method of trophic value index (IVT) It was found that the lagoon has high eutrophication and low biodiversity as a result of nature and the inadequate intervention of the human being.-
