- In the “Carcelén” neighborhood, located in the north of the district Metropolitan of Quito, is characterized by being one of the First satellite neighborhoods in the city of Quito. Historically, “Carcelén” was designed to be a neighborhood that has all the basic services that a residential area requires to meet the needs of the villagers. At the moment it stopped having a residential character giving way to be a mixed zone, where commerce has been taking strength in the main roads. This generated a greater influx of passersby and informal sale. On the other hand, the union and solidarity among neighbors remains a strength that predominates in the sector. Therefore, public spaces have A great welcome by residents of the sector. The Design of a sector market and reordering project from public space arises from the understanding of the needs that exist in the place. When analyzing the current state of both the market and space public context, we can understand that it is not in optimal conditions to meet the needs of the users.
