Abstract

El valle de Tumbaco se encuentra ubicado en la zona noroeste del Distrito Metropolitano de Quito y está formado por las parroquias de: Cumbaya, Tumbaco, Pifo, Puembo, Checa, Tababela, Yaruqui y El Quinche. La población fija del valle de Tumbaco es aproximadamente de 120.000 habitantes, la población flotante 80.000 pobladores, con una densidad de 1.8 habitantes por hectárea. La Parroquia de Tumbaco limita al Norte y este con: El rio San Pedro y Chiche y la Parroquia de Zámbiza, al Sur con: La loma de Cochabamba y Santo Thomas y las Parroquias de Alangasí y la Merced y al Oeste con: Cerro Ilaló y Cerro Negro y las Parroquias de Guangopolo, Cumbaya y Nayón, La altitud de la Parroquia de Tumbaco es de 2.332 m.s.n.m., tiene un área de 65,49 Km2. y una población de 49.944 habitantes, con una densidad de 762,62 hab/Km2, según el último censo de población en el 2010.
