Description: The Following Project’s main objective is to offer alternatives for weight loss products that would be affordable and beneficial in a patient’s life considering the Ecuadorian market, where Pharmaceutical options are limited. The World Health Organization declared obesity as a world epidemic of the 21st century. Studies show that by 2015 Ecuador will have a 58.3% of overweight and a 21.7% of obesity in women and a 46.5% and 8.9% in men. The treatment of pharmacologic agents is increasing as part of a therapy in order to maintain long term weight loss. Orlistat helps prevent the absorbsion and assimilation of about 1/3 of the fat the patient intakes, and increases the possibility of short term weight loss, while maintaining it in a long term. There was a market study based on the information obtained by IMS Health, which established that the Ecuadorian pharmaceutical market maintains a constant 18% increase of medicine for the digestive and metabolic system. This creates the perfect opportunity to commercialize “VIPLENA” which in the very first year of sales could generate an operations profit of $77,189.00 with a margin of 30%. From this analysis we can determine that the main strength of this product is the high capability of fidelization through the SATME program which will generate a 64% of buy from the Ecuadorian population in the urban area from which 51% of its target is the female population who are more sensible to the esthetics and beauty. There are strategies for its distribution that are already set that include patients and doctors whose implementation will allow us to obtain the profit expected from this product.
