Identificación morfológica y molecular de cosmarium sp. aislado de los lagos de la Reserva Ecológica Antisana

Abstract

One of the microorganisms that have adapted to extreme conditions for millions of years have been microalgae, especially the microalgae genus Cosmarium, which belongs to the Desmidiaceae family and has more than 1500 species. This genre has created questions in the scientific field, since the few investigations that exist have provided significant results in the biotechnological field. That is why the investigation of the genus Cosmarium sp offers an opportunity to generate classical and molecular taxonomic data, so this project has the objective of isolating and identifying the morphological and molecular taxonomy of a species of microalgae of the genus Cosmarium sp from the Reserve Ecological Antisana. After the development of the research, it was obtained that the isolated AGBBM-141119 is Cosmarium subcrenatum. In the same way, references of its cell growth and optical density were obtained, obtaining a final concentration of 3.76 x105 cells / mL and an absorbance of 1.942. This research provides important information on the biodiversity in the ecosystems of Ecuador and the possible biotechnological uses that this species can generate.
