Abstract: With the increase in popularity of electric vehicles by not emitting polluting gases and the efficiency they bring with respect to traditional vehicles with an internal combustion engine, their technological advancement has been driven in recent years, especially for the battery, which is the most critical point in this type of vehicle, so it is necessary to manage the energy stored in the most efficient way for greater autonomy. The main objective of this project is to develop a technical prototype of a battery management system, more affordable and easier to build, considering the specifications and design parameters for an electric motorcycle prototype. To carry out this objective, it began by defining the possible specifications that the electric motorcycle would have, so that a track simulation can be carried out to determine the average energy consumption and thus calculate the required capacity of the battery pack. Once the required capacity was obtained, it was determined the type of cells to be used and their arrangement in series and in parallel was noted to obtain the voltage and current values needed to operate the electric motor. With the battery calculations, the monitoring circuit was designed to ensure the battery delivers the voltage and current required for the system, as well as providing a range of about 55 km for urban use. The battery management system (BMS) was based on the Arduino UNO platform with the ATmega 328 microcontroller and the respective simulations were performed to obtain the battery discharge data in real time, on a circuit model in a 5 volt operating range due to the limitations of the software used to be a test version and not be able to simulate power circuits.
