dc.description | At present there is a constant worldwide concern about the excessive use of non-renewable natural resources. Within this area, the industrial sector is the main consumer of water and fossil fuels. Therefore, it is necessary to implement innovative technologies that contribute to an effective saving of water and energy within industrial processes. This document generates an alternative to contribute to the solution of this problem. The present study proposes the design of a water and energy recovery system that promotes the use of purge streams in the cauldrons of the textile industry. For this, an optimized design of a flash tank and a tube and shell heat exchanger was developed; both fulfill the function of recovering flash steam and preheating the feed water to the boiler system, which reduces the consumption of steam and fossil fuel. From the analysis performed with flash tank and heat exchanger, low flows and temperatures were obtained, which allows a minimum energy recovery. However, if the process is performed only with the heat exchanger, the mass flows are greater and the temperature range in which it works is higher, so that greater energy transfer is obtained, which leads to savings of water and energy, optimizing the use of fossil fuels | es |
