| Abstract: | Estudios han notado una asociación entre la incidencia de violencia de pareja y problemas de salud en mujeres víctimas de violencia. Sin embargo, esta problemática aún no ha sido específicamente explorada en mujeres que reportan ser víctimas de violencia psicológica. El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar auto-reportes de problemas de salud en mujeres víctimas de violencia psicológica. Materiales y métodos: Este estudio fue parte de una investigación macro, de tipo cuantitativa, no experimental, transversal. La muestra fue no probabilística conformada por 28 mujeres que recibieron servicios sociales en una fundación que ayudan a mujeres víctimas de violencia. Se aplicó una encuesta de 8 preguntas. Los datos fueron analizados por medio del programa SPSS versión 20. Resultados: Un alto porcentaje de mujeres que manifestaron haber sufrido violencia psicológica expresaron también haber sufrido problemas de salud de forma constante durante los últimos seis meses. La principal sintomatología reportada por estas mujeres fue la cefalea conjuntamente con dolores constantes de cuello y hombros. Conclusión: Los resultados de esta investigación sugieren la necesidad de realizar un diagnóstico integral de las mujeres que llegan a consulta médica. | Description: | Studies have noted an association between the incidence of partner violence and physical health problems in women victims of violence. However, this problem has not yet been specifically explored in women who report being victims of psychological abuse. The purpose of this study was to evaluate self-reports of health problems in women victims of psychological violence. Materials and methods: This study was part of a larger quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional investigation. The sample was not probabilistic, consisting of 28 women who received social services at a shelter that helps women victims of violence. A survey of 8 questions was administered. The data was analyzed using the program SPSS, version 20. Results: A high percentage of women who reported being victims of psychological violence also expressed having suffered chronic health problems during the last six months. The main symptomatology reported by these women was headache along with constant neck and shoulder pain. Conclusion: The results of this research suggest the need for a more integral assessment of women during medical examinations. Self-reported physical problems could be symptoms of psychological abuse inflicted by their partners |
